The following facts are borrowed from this group, which I joined a while ago. I would attempt to describe Andrew Jackson’s brilliance and importance on this page, but it would be an entire essay, and I doubt you’d want to read that. Therefore, I’ve decided on brevity rather than all-out fangirling. Besides, I thought it was funny.

In 1835, he fought off an assassin with his cane, after BOTH of the assassin's guns misfired.
First and only president to eliminate the national debt.
Fought in 103 duels, most of which were defending his wife's honor.
During a duel with Charles Dickinson, Jackson was shot in the ribs. Jackson took it like a man and proceeded to fatally shoot Dickinson.
Lived to 78, a ripe old age considering THEY NEVER REMOVED THE LEAD BULLET.
Due to his wounds, he coughed up blood for the rest of his life.
He has appeared on the American $10,000 bill.
First President born in a log cabin.
Had a parrot, and taught it English, AND Spanish.
Left a bullet in his arm for 20 years after being shot by Jesse Benton. After it was removed, HE GAVE IT BACK.
Around the time of the Battle of New Orleans, Federal Judge Dominick A. Hall summoned Jackson on a contempt citation, where Jackson paid a $1,000.00 fine. In response, Jackson put the judge in jail. Then, when a newspaper editor attacked Jackson's action, he was ALSO put in jail.
Married the same woman twice.
Hosted BYOB parties at the White House open to the public. People would climb in through the windows to get at the food. At one such party, a 1,400 lb wheel of cheese was consumed in two hours.
